History
The use of these pillows, or rather the history of the ring bearer pillows used at weddings can be traced back as far as the ancient Roman and Egyptian times. In ancient times, it was only the society’s wealthiest people who had the privilege and comfort of owning pillows and cushions, which in those days were considered luxury items. Since pillows were such a precious commodity at the time, it was only fitting they be used at wedding ceremonies, which were considered just as important in those days as they are today. However, according to the history of the ring bearer pillows, the pillows were traditionally used to carry gold or silver stones rather than the wedding rings that they now carry today.

Ring Pillows don't have to be pillows at all. There are many wonderful thing you can use instead. Maybe something that will fit your theme better. A bed of pearls, a birds nest, a film canaster, maybe a piece of birch wood. Here are a few of my favorites from marthastewart.com.
I think your ring pillow is probably one of your best and easiest DIY projects. And you can have it exactly the way you want it. Craft stores like Pat Catans, Jo Ann Fabrics, and Micheals usually have a wedding section and you can find many different things to make your own ring pillow. Plus when you do it yourself you tend to take more pride and treasure an object more. And after all these are suppose to be some of your most treasured times!
